I have a drugs problem
I wonder if anyone knows the solution. I take a very expensive drug and when I move over will have an excellent consultant in Malaga (a good friend of the one I see currently, so this will already be sorted out, no hoops to go through etc.). The drug has to be refrigerated and I will have only a 12v mini fridge to start with. At present, I have 3 months supply delivered to my home and, under the reciprocal agreement between UK/Spain I can continue to use it free of charge. However, I may not get delivery to my home in Benamaurel if it can't be found (I understand things are delivered all over and it can be chance if you happen to come across where, though the drugs are couriered so I am hopeful).
Does the chemist take delivery of drugs? CAN he? WOULD he?

Difficult one . Have you asked your consultant how to go about it ? if he doesn't know maybe he could ask his Spanish mate.
The pharmacies here are excellent , unfortunately courier services are not as good. Maybe if there is a way to get it through the pharmacies here on prescription ( if possible ) it would be a lot safer. Also do you have anybody you know here that can at least keep some of it in their fridge just as a back up if your fridge goes pearshaped ?

I also take a very expensive medication that has to be refrigerated called 'Humira'. Originally it was supplied in UK and I would collect from the UK every three months and bring back in a cool bag with ice blocks acompanied with a letter from the specialist explaining what it was for customs. Now it is supplied by the spanish health system as we pay in to the system and I collect it once a month from the pharmacy based at the Baza Hospital without any fuss!

My husband also uses an expensive drug that needs to be refrigerated. Is there any way your UK consultant could get it shipped to Baza hospital? If you're changing to a Spanish consultant for future prescriptions that could almost certainly be arranged. As Shiny says above, there's no fuss about collecting stuff from their pharmacy. The staff there are helpful, friendly and efficient.
