Woodburner problem! HELP!!
Got a bit of a prob with one of my woodburners at the moment. The smoke is not escaping up the chimney and is turning one of our sitting rooms into a smokehouse! I have tried the crystals in the estufa they didn't work and from the chimney down as far as i could tell there was no blockage....although i guess there must be? Time to call in the experts....anyone know anybody?

the only thing i can think of then with yours is that the ash and everything from your flue has come down and blocked your side parts, as your smoke comes up the side of your estufa doesnt it? and not through the back or top. if that is the case i am lost

Not sure if it all comes apart inside so that you can clean the side bits out.

Re: Woodburner problem! HELP!!
The problem could be lack of airflow, caves have no rear windows, try to open a front window and see what happens.
Second, how far does your chimney stick up!!!. If there is any higher ground around than the top of your chimney then this can cause down draft due the wind coming over the higher ground ( or roof) and then swirling downwards, try making chimney higher, or knock next doors roof off.
If your chimney is already high, is it metal?, is it cold?, you should not be able to touch it for long, sometimes the cold wind can cool the chimney and stop the heat rising, that happened to a friend of mine, he lagged it and the problem went away.
Hope you find the solution

Re: Woodburner problem! HELP!!
The estufa worked perfect last winter so the airflow is not an issue as there has been no changes at all

Get a wirly wirly. Best thing for log burners
I think Demon Dave our lord and master may have a couple for sale, unless he's already sold them.

Re: Woodburner problem! HELP!!
There was a thread a while back (you might recall the 'Sweep wars') but it had to be deleted due to getting a bit out of hand. People pretending to be customers and giving recommendations if I remember correctly.
I think the culprits were caught out because they didn't realise that the mods can see which computer posts come from.

Yes there that's what I was going to say, it seemed that 50 percent of the forum were chimley sweeps. Lol

Re: Woodburner problem! HELP!!
Thanks for all the comments. It only needs sweeping i am pretty sure.
I have lived here for 4.5 years and in that time i have never had any probs with it, so whirly things and windows being open are not gonna make a blind bit of difference thanks. Also i have never had it swept in all that time
I have found a chimney sweep He is popping around this morning....so will keep you posted as to how we get on!
