Re: Calling all budding bakers for a good cause
This way I'm going have to make at least 3 now! I suppose Mrs.Shiny will also want one so that's 4 mini lemon meringues, I'll have to start now otherwise they won't be done in time.
Fortunately I've already put the brussel sprouts on a simmer for Christmas day so that's free'd my time up a bit

Can I just also add along with cakes and buns , I have been making chutneys, relishes and jams for this worthy cause and they will be for sale on the day but there is always room for more. So just on the off chance that anybody else has any homemade preserves etc that they could donate, it would be very much appreciated for the home produce stall.
Nice one Cavern, yes I'll have a box of preserves to donate as well and a hamper for the raffle.
Nice one back atcha , are you going to be at the fayre early ? or shall we arrange somehow that I get them from you before the day. Seeing as I am going to be there helping set up first thing in the morning apperently

We should be there around 7am or I will be.............La is usually a fashionable 10 minutes late - Are you doing the cake stall Cavern? I was wondering last night about packaging for some of the cakes like meringues and the chocolate ganache I could make up some small cardboard half boxes for the more delicate cakes if that would help.
Re: Calling all budding bakers for a good cause
I just wonder what the Spanish are going to think of 'proper' cakes? You may be the start of something big here......

Yes it is going to be between Myself , Jan and Jackie covering the home produce and Tombola and any one else who we can rope in The box idea sounds a brilliant idea if you get the time . Also a call out to anybody who may have some spare carrier bags , we use all ours as bin bags and now they are hard to come across are forever running out .
Re: Calling all budding bakers for a good cause
I'm going to make up some boxes for the lemon meringues today (as long as I have no more interruptions like the old fella who drove through the ford this morning at 5am and oddly enough got stuck, I can vouch that the river is just above knee height at the moment and that Spanish men cannot tie knots).
Do you need boxes for anything else that can't be popped into a bag? Do you have any small bags to use?
Cavern I also have some carrier bags.

Thats made my day. what a mental picture............
Re: Calling all budding bakers for a good cause
Oh if they're not getting stuck in the river, they ground their cars falling off the tarmac because they're so busy looking across the fields to see who's doing what and I'm not even going to get started on shepherds rumoured by the Guardia to be lost in the snow when infact they're holed up in an old cave with a crate of homemade wine! Oh the joys of owning a 4 x 4 on a road that scares the cops.
