Starting to live in a cave house in Orce
We are Hilde, 40 years and Alain 47 years. Se is a watchman and he is representative. In 2014, our life changes completely.
Sep 2013 Alain moved to Spain, region of Huescar, to finish building our dream. Further July 2014, Hildewill leave Belgium with her daughter of 15 years.
Then we live in our Cave Housde. At 1017 meters altitude, on our own domain of 16 ha.
We are 6 km from the nearest asphalt, with no house in a distance of 5 Km. No electricity or water. We go ourselves with water, electricity, heat and eat as much as possible grow without compromising on quality of life. It is not intended to be real farmers for financial gain, but to provide for our sustenance with our own grown vegetables, eggs, honey etc.
From 2014 we also have our own prey, a red-tailed hawk. Well has been drilled to 130 meters, but only water to feed the cave we should care for rain and stream water provided for irrigation.

Welcome to the forum. It sounds idyllic, and youve picked the best part of Spain. Orce is superb! We look forward to hearing more about your cave.

Hi Hilde and Alain,
It sounds like you have a good plan. A small-holding to provide food and independence. Though 16 Ha is a lot of weeding to do.
