27th - Public Holiday? Empty 27th - Public Holiday?

Post by Jenny Sun Dec 19, 2010 10:13 pm

I'm probably the only person on the altiplano who doesn't know this but, given that Christmas Day falls on a Saturday, can I assume that the following Monday is a public holiday to make up for it? And what about Tuesday 28th? Anyone know?

Was at the Bank and Medical centre this morning so can confirm as far as they are concerned the 24th is a Half day, the 27th is a full closure day as is the 3rd Jan it would appear than in Spain if a public holiday falls on a weekend then the following Monday is taken in Lieu.

Not sure all Business will follow this principle but certinally the Banks and Health Centres ARE

Thanks - that's what I'd assumed but wanted to make sure. As it happens in the UK I reckoned it would be bound to happen here too - especially given the Spanish attitude towards public holidays.

Chimney Sweep - looks like someone's having you on, unless you'll be on overtime rescuing trapped Father Christmases! Smile

I sympathize, Chimney Sweep. I was self-employed for years before I started teaching & used to get really fed-up with people saying, "Oh well, of course you've got all that flexibility" (I was a single parent at the time). Flexibility for what? To work all the hours god sends & never have any time to call one's own! I even used to do illicit substances - not for fun, but to stay awake all night while the kids were asleep so I could get through the work. Being retired is a much better option, I find!
