Andalucia to outlaw Rural holiday Rentals

Holidaymakers wishing to travel inland to experience the 'real Spain' will be very disappointed to learn that a new law, developed by the Junta de Andalucía, will effectively outlaw the popular casa rural rental home.
In general rural Spain is peaceful and unspoiled, offering visitors an experience far removed from the bustle of the coastal resorts, and the casa rural has become a key part of this authentic experience.
It is estimated that more than 2,000 privately operated homes in rural areas could be put out of business by a new law, currently being submitted to Andalucía's regional government, which will make private rental of rural properties illegal.
The Andalucía Network of Rural Accommodation (RAAR) estimates that casas rurales currently make up 70 per cent of the accommodation offered in rural areas, so its abolition will have serious consequences for inland tourism.
Currently such holiday rental accommodation is considered to be a private pursuit and, unlike a boutique hotel or holiday apartment complex, not a formal business. While the individual offering such a property for rent is obliged to declare the income for tax purposes, they have not been expected to meet the obligations of a formal business.
Under the proposed new legislation, the category of ‘private holiday rental’ will disappear altogether, meaning that those who have relied on renting out their rural properties as a useful second – or even main – source of income will have to consider their financial position very carefully

Re: Andalucia to outlaw Rural holiday Rentals
How ridiculous, trust good old Andalusia. One minute they are worried about tourism being down, next they are trying to block it by these stupid rules, not that i think they can possibly implement them.
Re: Andalucia to outlaw Rural holiday Rentals
Had a look through some other forums and websites it would seem that the Junta De Andalusia have a bee in their bonnet about the income generated by some Casa Rurales who then don't pay any tax. They apparently want to formalise as many as possible which would mean compliance with what small hotels etc have to do.
Your right it would be awful if it gets through which is why the up coming elections are important with hopefully the PP getting in where needed and maybe getting a majority in Andalusia !! There policies look a lot more understanding !!
