My Petrol 1.28.2 a litre Empty My Petrol 1.28.2 a litre

I don’t think
this is very well thought through. The petrol companies need only to but their
prices up by 2 cents a litre on their sales to over come your inconvenience and
all your effort is wasted.

Please
see what you think and pass it on if you agree with it.

We
are hitting £
129.9 a litre in some areas now and soon we will be faced with paying
£1
.50 per litre. So Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This
makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign'
that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that
because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy
petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really
work.

Please
read it and join in!

Now
that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that
the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take
aggressive action to
teach them that BUYERS - not sellers control the market place. With the price
of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only
way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in
the pocket by not purchasing their petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting
ourselves. Here's the idea:

For
the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil
companies (which now are one) i.e. ESSO and BP.

If
they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.
If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But
to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol
buyers. It's really simple to do!!

Now,
don't wimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple
it is to reach millions of people!!

I
am sending this note to a lot of people. If all of you send i
t to at
least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)....and those 300 send it to at least ten more
(300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on. By the time the message reaches the
sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then
30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you
guessed it.....

THREE
HUNDRED MILLION
PEOPLE!!!

Again,
all YOU have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all (and not buy at
ESSO/BP). How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email
out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could
conceivably be contacted

PLEASE
HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES It's easy to make this happen. Just
forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell,Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys,
Morrisons, Jet etc. i.e. Boycott BP and Esso

I have boycotted BP and Esso for the last six years.
The email thing would work as long as the emails are not sent to the same people over and over which is possible.

Bit confused as to WHY WE SHOULD BE BLAMING the oil companies for petrol prices ?

The Price of Petrol

Where does the money you pay for a litre of petrol really go? Do you know what you are actually paying for?

If a litre of unleaded cost 126.9p, it would be split in the following way:

Fuel Duty 58.98 Government

VAT 21.15 Government

Product 41.8 Oil Company

Retailer 5

Its obvious that the biggest winner in terms of fuel price is the Goverment and quite rightly so, where ELSE should cash strapped countries Levey charges ???

Another factor in fuel costs is the weak pound, as barrels are sold in dollars. So Europe and the UK are at a disadvantage due to fluctuations in exchange rates.

Any thoughts ?

Problem with this is that:

Petrol is primarily a by-product of crude oil refining. Companies get more money from finding and extracting crude oil than from selling petrol. Petrol sales usually only give the companies 1 or 2p (or € cents) per litre in pure profit. Crude oil is used in machining, plastics, soaps, any manufacturing process really, phones, computers, etc., etc., etc. ... So, stop buying all this stuff instead!!

Another is that Esso and BP are the two largest in the world (not one company, Esso are Exxon in most countries) and they supply pretty much everyone else with petrol anyway - especially the supermarkets! So, go elsewhere and you give them money anyway. What crude they don't supply, they buy from smaller companies and refine...

Now THIS might make a difference, until the government tax this too...

It seems unfair on the retailers (petrol stations). They have small margins and in some cases make nothing or very little. Some petrol stations rely on customers buying sweets, pop etc... The government will still get their taxes regardless of which brand you buy. And if they don't put tax on petrol, it will have to go on something else. There's not an easy answer.

Just another piece of info for all, as of the 7th March the speed limit on Spanish Motorways is going to be reduced to 110kph !! In the Spanish governments words ''As a fuel saving measure''

Not sure of how this will be inforced or how they will change signs etc but I bet the Guardia will have a field day.
