Re: Cave houses
Hi and welcome to the forum. Know Nigg well, my Dad is from Tain and still have family there. I can remember playing on the beach at Nigg as a kid long before the rigs moved in. Still have to go on the Ferry every time we visit.
Re: Cave houses
Hi gilly and La Mancha,
Wow, it really is a small world!!
Where abouts in Nottinghamshire are you from gilly? Yes, Nigg was very hard hit by the recession, and was virtually shut down long before we came here, so it was a very quiet place to live. However it has finally reopened and seems to be getting busier by the day now. It's now manufacturing wind turbines by a company called Global Energy. It's great to have a new source of employment for people in the area, but we feel it is now time for us to escape, before civilisation catches up and overwhelms us :-)
La Mancha, Tain is a lovely place and we do most of our shopping there at the new Asda that opened up as competition for the less new Tesco that also moved in, along with a Lidl!!
The beaches are lovely here, but unfortunately I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to the ferry. I only used it once with the car. The weather was calm(for a change), the waterways like a mill pond, and I ended up feeling sooo sick....never again!!

There are a few ex-pats living here full-time, but as far as I know, not many live in Cave-Homes, or are members of the forum.
There is a bar on the road to Pozo Alcon, at the turn-off to La Colonia, where a lot of ex-pats from Cuevas used to meet - but I think the British owners have now moved on.
I can only manage to get over once or twice a year due to commitments in the UK - but hope to live here full-time in the near future.
Re: Cave houses
Hi,
So you could potentially be a nearish neighbour in the future if we work things out!
Is your cave house in the local area?

Hi Welcome
I only know Cuevas del Campo for it's beach, which we go to, on and off and spend the day there with a picnic.
