Orce Man - News Update

Further Proof that early man was in Orce 1.3 million years ago has come to light.
There has been, over the years, much debate, with regards to the authenticity of a scull fragment, found during an excavation and dated 1.3 million years ago , actually belonging, to early pre-historic man. It was suggested by some that the bone fragment, was from some other animal, such as a rabbit.
However..... stored, for many years and recently released for examination was a human tooth, found at one of the three main archaeological sites, Barranco Leon. – has now been dated 1.4 million years ago !!
Much to the excitement and enthusiasm, of all those that have support the theory, including myself, of Orce being home, to Europe’s, Earliest human inhabitants..........

You would think with all this archeological stuf, plus the rare birds, Eagles, Vultures and other 'non-sparrows'. The place should be teeming with 'twitchers' etc.. Not 'doggers' though!

smile, lets hope Dave, they don't want samples of some more of your teeth for their studies. x

Yeah, seems to be loads of vultures (bird type) around Orce recently

Such exciting news - I will pass on the info too
As some of you may know I was part of the 2004 dig team (before I moved here) and was lucky to work with Josep Gibert - one of the archaeologists that found the original skull fragment that has caused so much debate! - sadly he passed away a couple of years ago and will miss out on this new exciting news. My American friend (one of the team from back in 2004) I am meeting up with at the end of the month so it will be great to share this news with her.
I have also met the 'Orce Man' creator that blatantadvertising mentioned!! I met up with 'Carlos Hernandez Sanchez' in Granada and went out for a meal with him (and the archaeologists!!!)
