Winter Fuel Payment

Sky News are looking for pensioners based abroad who might be affected by proposals by the government that pensioners who live in hot countries will not be able to claim for a Winter Fuel allowance.

Ideally someone in Spain or Portugal who has Skype who will be able to speak to them this afternoon.

I'm doing a course on how to use the social networks and being the dunce of the class! All of us of mature years so no excuse and I'm not even the oldest one there. How the folk who know nothing at all about Twitter and the like are getting along so well must be because of me. Pensioner Parliament had a speaker on the ex pats and this injustice. Where you choose to live when you retire is your choice and if our pension is a benefit to be paid at the whim of government it should at least be equable. Rant over. The reason the winter fuel allowance has been made available to all, including the people living abroad, was the ruling by the EU that the uk was discriminating by not giving to all , therefore if any form of testing by temperature or means is put in place it has to be applied throughout the uk as well. Is this correct?

They have paid their taxes and NI all those years and does no one in government know how cold it gets here in the winter? They are not in the Canaries! It's wrong. They should get it.
