Re: Snakes in a Cave !
hi, i keep snakes (corn) so hate to think of killing one and like kirsten would try to save them, jut cover with a large cloth, when calm(both of you) scoop up and put outside. m

Ladder Snake
We've had a 3ft long ladder snake at ours. On Thursday it ate some very small baby sparrows - didn't see the snake eat them but the bulges in his body and the lack of tweets from the nest ...... Then on Sunday he/she was back - wanted the larger, just ready to fly older fledglings - needless to say the birds had no chance. Dislocated it jaw and swallowed whole! Don't know where it is now. Hopefully had enough of a banquet at ours and is 'vegging out'. Not a great fan of snakes (or scorpions - had two of them too) but would have liked to have saved the baby birds - impossible - in the end just nature's way I suppose.

Re: Snakes in a Cave !
I asked my neighbours not to kill a snake, but it was after their baby rabbits - which they keep for food not as pets.

Cricky, is this a regular occurence? Personally don`t have a porblem but the wife has a massive snake phobia, if she reads this thread she will have kittens , might even become a deal breaker which would be such a shame.

Poor thing was probably just passing through and scared to death.
There are very few dangerous snakes in Europe but a reptile bite can give you a nasty infection.
If you don't have dogs and cats, they are really good to have around the garden or campo as they keep rodents, scorpions and bugs down.
I would have just used a broom and chased it out the house and let it go on about its business.
