Strange email from the Bank?
Hello all,
I received an email from the bank today:
So has anyone heard of this 'Repatriation Insurance'? I wasn't aware that I had it, so I'm not sure if I need it.
Looking through my recent statements, I don't seem to have been paying anything for it - so is this genuine, or some sort of scam?
Alan.
I received an email from the bank today:
Estimado cliente,

Re: Strange email from the Bank?
Looks like they are offering you a new kind of Insurance. Probably something to do with if you have to go back to UK all of a sudden , emergencies etc.. It's definately not compulsory or a scam. Mind you, aren't most Insurnces a scam anyway.
Re: Strange email from the Bank?
Thanks for that, maybe I read it wrong but I thought they were inviting me to renew something I already had, not offering me something new.
I'm not aware that I have this type of insurance - does anyone else have it?

Re: Strange email from the Bank?
It definitely uses the word for expire, trying to indicate a previous policy so could be scam or genuine!

Got the same email yesterday. It was something that was provided free when I first opened the Bank Account five years ago. I do not intend to renew it and pay more insurance.

Recieved the same information by letter today, with an english translation, was just what we thought, a sales pitch.

Re: Strange email from the Bank?
I was just a bit concerned that it might be a case of being charged for something you don't need or want - unless you specifically cancel it.
I had a similar situation a few years ago with breakdown cover from a well known UK Automobile Association, when my partner broke down and needed a new radiator hose fitting to the car, she accepted some kind of a 'free' extended warranty on the repair at the time, but because I failed to notice the small print on the renewal (which was paid by direct debit) I ended up paying £110 a year for this for the next 2 years!
