Beware of several fake emails from different banks that are going around. They appear to be from a genuine bank email but aren't. They are normally worded as below and may include a form for you to complete and return. DONT! IF you do or have done, it WILL cost you dearly. Contact your bank imediately on a secure means.

There are also ones going round in spanish, too. I get occasional ones with subject lines like:
Enc: Aviso Importante - N: 20606.  from  Banco Bradesco S/A.
that tell me my card security key has expired and I should log on to the link in the email to renew them.
Never, ever, under any circumstances EVER supply current or old information about your bank accounts to any website or link that you haven't typed in yourself and got straight from a letter from you bank.
Did I say NEVER? just makin' sure

My, there are so many scams now. You don't have to be thick or stupid to fall for them either. SKYPE, PAYPAL, EBAY, ALL BANKS and others are all being scammed. As Pete says NEVER dish out your details to anyone you are not 100% sure are legitimate. Never open an email attachment you are not 100% sure you know who it is from. Be safe peeps.

Most people now know not to respond to these things.  However, the scammers know that there are still vulnerable people out there, such as the elderly or less wordly wise folks who just see a bank name and think it is trustworthy.

Examples like the one above should immediately ring alarm bells on a basic level though as it reads like it has been written by a moron, as a lot of these things do.

I hate these scumbags, especially when they target older people.
