UK or Spanish Driving licence

I have to renew my photo card which I could do easily enough and retain my UK licence or just change to a spanish one. I have been stopped on quite a few occasions and shown my current licence without any problems.
Why am I so attached to my UK licence?
Would be grateful of any sensible answers??

I understand that if I changed my UK license to Spanish one I would only retain my car driver part. I may be wrong, but I was told I would lose my lorry, trailer,bike etc???

When we originally changed our licences 10 years ago we kept all our other bits including HGV3 etc. Only problem was that the lady in Alicante (where we lived at the time) put my OH's HGV on my licence! We didn't bother about it as he didn't intend to drive one again. When we moved over here and renewed our licences they remained on the licence until the HGV was due to expire when Trafico wrote to me saying that it was due to expire and I would need to have a medical etc to continue it. We ignored the reminder because (a) my OH didn't want to renew it and (b) it was on my licence anyway and I didn't want it. He still has his motorbike licence included on his current one.

I am pretty sure I wouldn't lose my motorcycle entitlement! If there was any risk of losing that I wouldn't change it! It's one of my most prized posessions apart from Annie and Bruce of course!

I changed my licence and kept my motorcycle entitlement. Like you Shiny, worth more than anything I own.
