Is anyone able to or, know where it is possible to get a Nokia handset that is locked to T-Mobile unlocked?

If you google it you'll find lots of unlock calculators online that use the IMEI which is the official unlock method. Most are ok but do a google check to see if they are legit. I have unlocked this way a number of different phones

Go to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on the forum page and into mobile phones thread. There are people on there who will give you the code for unlocking mobiles, if it can be unlocked this way as it depends on the model of phone. I have done this several times and it has always worked. They are very helpful.

That's for the ancient coding of DHT or DHC, the newer phones are locked at chip level and require the more advanced BB5 decryption. The network providers do this because they subsidise the cost of the handsets and don't want their customers "doing the off" before they've earnt their money back from them. If however you know of somewhere that can guarantee to unlock an Nokia 6303C then pleeeeeeeeease let me know. Twisted Evil

Oh, how things change eh? Looks like you will have to pay to unlock. Next time, buy a phone from Carphone Warehouse (there are stores in Spain too) as all their phones are usually unlocked. I've bought 2 Nokia's from them which were both unlocked.

T-mobile will unlock it for £15 I think if its been used on T-Mob for long enough they might do it for free. Voda just unlocked two iPhones for me FOC as I have two mobile contracts with them. To do another one is £19.99. As long as its a legit phone they will all do an unlock either free or for a fee dependent on how long its been in use.

What you say is true, I've exhausted all other avenues and I've just gone directly to T-Mobile, just a 7 day wait for them to respond now!

Getting a phone unlocked is 100% legal, getting a phone unblocked is illegal.

I knew it was locked when it was given to me for free, just didn't realise about the BB5 encoding. I actually do have unlocking software myself so thought it would be a breeze. Anyway, if T-Mobile do it for 15 notes then I'll still be very happy.

If youve had a phone on an O2 contract and your contract has expired 12 or 18 months they will unlcok if for free, although they dont advertise the fact. Ive just done our O2 phones so that we could get Hits pay as you go.
So you may be lucky. sunny

I didn't think O2 locked their handsets, I thought it was only T-mobile, Orange and more recently 3. As Hits works on the Vodaslug network I would have thought it'd just be a case of 'plug-n-play'. It does look like a fairly good deal they're offering though, I just wish the providers here would catch up with the Uk tariffs.
