I have had several appointments now. The doctor Always comes and gets me at the alloted time or very near it. That way he announces you have an appointment and saves arguments. Possibly he wants to encourage others to use it too.

Worked well for us, don't forget to print out your appointment time/number. The only potential issue is that you may be given a number that someone in the queue in the surgery already has, however, when we went down with our print out the doctor accepted that 2 people had the same number and it wasn't a problem.
