Living in the area...?
Sooooooooo still looking to relocate to the Huesar/Freila/Galera type area [if such a thing exists as opposed to the whole region!!] Would like to make Spanish and expat friends so where are best places and where to avoid [other than the 'costa- lotos'!!]

Re: Living in the area...?
I think the generally used term for this area is the Altiplano de Granada.
Good Luck with relocating. The area is great.

The Altiplano generally refers to the regions of Baza and Huescar. You can see more at the Granada tourism site here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] As far as meeting people this area is no different to any others there are people that pretty much keep to themselves and others that are more outgoing. The ex-pat community is just the same with the exception that you have residents and those that just have holiday homes in the area. If you are more outgoing then you can meet many people at any of the local markets. We do tend to stick out a bit !!! especially we holiday homers.

I always love to see people starting their jouney of 'cave hunting' it is such a fun and enjoyable process and when you find 'The One' what a joy and then starts a whole new jouney.
I’m of the opinion that for sure there is something for everyone in the Altiplano region, quiet, lively, social, isolated: Be it a rural hamlet community, (with a small population but strong sense neighbourliness), village, (with school a shops and lots of social activities and community spirit), town, (with regular bus services and more shops), so for sure you are doing the right thing coming to explore the region and find where your something is.
GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN
