Lead Paint
Hola everyone,
Does anyone know if lead paint is an issue and if it possible to get lead testing kits anywhere? I am preparing to strip all my internal doors and I don't want to expose myself or more importantly my kids. I went to the Ferreteria in Galera and he had no idea what I was talking about when I asked for a 'Plomo Test'.

Re: Lead Paint
Maybe instead of sanding them (if you are worried about lead in the paint) you could use a paint stripper solution which won't create any dust. Juanma at the Feretteria should have some, but any problems ring me and I will meet you there and have a chat with him for you.

You will get a much better finish if you use stripper rather that sanding. If you sand it back you will lose the character of the wood. You would also remove the risk of contaminated dust by using stripper.Just be careful to keep the solution away from the kids and also wear the correct IPE.

Re: Lead Paint
Thanks Alice!
On inspection your doors are painted with lead based paint, so you have some options - they are in really good condition, so you can fill where necessary and paint over them, or use paint stripper and then fill and paint.
I hope you were happy with everything today!
Take care,
Caroline
