Relations of mine were sleeping on the first floor of their house in Baza with the balcony window open cos it was hot. They woke up in the early hours to find an intruder in the room! He jumped off the balcony and escaped with a wallet. Needless to say they are having rejas fitted as we speak.

Crime, its no better in the Uk, in fact its a lot worse Peter. As my son, daughter and grandson can testify after theyve just been robbed while they were asleep, and the majority of items stolen belonged to the six year old. Evil or Very Mad

I've just come back from the royal borough of
Kingston upon thames and was shocked to see posters all across Surrey warning people to be vigilant of thieves. People are very worried over there at the mo and constantly talking about the theft, muggings and violence. It was very concerning. In fact one lady I know was not happy to even have her conservatory door open when there were three of us in the house because of a spate of burglaries whilst people were at home. In Kingston! I was glad to come back to Baza where personally I feel very safe.

Definitely be vigilant anywhere.
I once left my mobile phone outside here for a week on our bench my mistake.. it was still there thankfully.
Back in nice Harrogate posh spa town it would've been gone in 2 seconds.

Its not all bad back here. Our little town in the Scottish borders has very little crime our door is never locked during the day. Good and bad everywhere. I had my beautiful very large and heavy buddha taken from our patio in Galera, along with a few other items.
