"Interesting" Weather

So we come out at the end of the school holidays for some nice Spanish Sunshine and WHAT!!!

Very spectacular thunder and lightning if that's what you like. Seems like half our roof has been washed down into the garden. Spent this morning constructing channels to try and direct the silt away from the gravel. AEmet suggesting over 4mm at 5 this afternoon. For those of you on F-*ook there is a group that covers extreme weather warnings in Granada. Search for Local Fire & Weather Watch (Granada). It's an open group so you can just ask to join.

I definitely didn't say 'interesting weather' when we landed in Alicante last night in really dark no visibility low cloud thunderstorm and lightning all around and the wings flapping up and down haha

'I'd rather drive 10,000 miles than this Debs!' ...something like that

Spent a good part of the morning sitting on the hillside with all the neighbours watching a huge flood sweep down the cañada below us, washing away all the runner beans that have been planted on the valley floor. First time this has happened for many years apparantly, and the cañada is normally dry. We were all glad our caves were high enough up the valley side to be out of danger!
Local shepherd couldn't get to his sheep cos the access road is under water.

we had major flooding all over our land and the neighbours, torrents running through each field, luckily cave all good though

I can say this is the worst sustained bad storm weather I have seen in 9 years here. Below the newly widened rivers in Galera after todays rain.

Went for a walk down the valley about 5.30pm and the worst of the floods had already receded. Can't find my wellies tho!

I've got quite a bit of storm fixing to do this weekend! Good weather from tomorrow at least for days ahead...
