Laptop and/or advice Wanted

I'm looking for a laptop with a screen size between 12" - 15.6". Nothing ancient though please. W.H.Y ?

Hi Jay - I've got a recon 12" IBM thinkpad from ebay for £80 - works a treat for all I need it for. x

Thanks for your recommendations guys, I've checked out both places and the array is endless. I need to whittle down what features I need so as to narrow the search a bit.

Any advice of makes to avoid? I'll definitely not be entertaining an HP.

I found Dell the best to go with, if you have a problem with it they send a courier to pick it up and take it away for fixing and then return it and it don't cost a penny.
They have some good deals.

Funny you should say that Rich, I'm on the Dell site right now and after several days of trawling through every make of machine, I think I'm set for a Dell. They even have a 3 year on-site repair warranty(for extra)! "Oh hello Dell I need a technician. My address? Sure, A-Cave, The Campo. See you soon!"

I recommend getting a 15.6" HD screen laptop as the picture is amazing and great for watching HD films.
The pick up service was great picked up, fixed and returned in 4 days

I'm weighing up the 15.6 and 14" ones. I've been using a 10" Netbook for over 5 years (it's now giving its final death throes) but I'm thinking the 15.6 could seem MASSIVE in comparison. I might have to use it from another room whilst I get used to it!

Yeah they do seem big at first, but trust me there well worth it in the long run, and if you go on a 14" or 10" screen after you will be happy you went for the bigger screen.
Same as a TV would you rather have a 14" tv or a 32" full hd tv

I know what you're saying, but I do like the compactness and higher portability of the smaller unit.

All sorted now. I decided to go for a 13.3" Dell Vostro.

Just what I have Jason, Vostro 131 with Core i5 Great little laptop but mine doesn't have a built-in DVD so bought a USB Blu-Ray burner that works great.

I went for the Vostro 3300, but the one I'm geting was "pimped" from new. Core i5 560m, 6gb, 500gb, Nvidia card, dvdrw, express34, HD screen, finger print reader, 8 cell bat & Win7 Pro 64. Can't wait till it arrives!
