Exciting but scary! Empty Exciting but scary!

At around 10.30pm last night my other half shouted to me to look out the back window. About 500 metres away the campo was well alight, following the riverbed. He decided to go and take a look. About 10 mins later the bomberos were there and within an hour all was under control. I went to bed a little bit apprehensive but nothing of note happened.

About lunch time today, the emergency helicopter went over - the campo was alight again! I think the breeze much have realighted some embers. It went back and forth about five times with a huge 'bucket' of water to douse the flames. Not sure where they were getting the water from - Negratin perhaps - they went in that general direction each time.

Going to take a closer look at little bit later on. Here's some photos my other half took.

Been here for four years and have never seen anything like it before. Well done those men in their flying machine!!

Glad youre ok. Excellent photos, well done! I believe there is an airstrip out the back of Vente Machina where they pick up water from.

We have been through much the same, although unlike you we were lucky and had a ravine in between, so a lot more scarier for you. Glad it worked out okay. Those men in their flying machine are amazing and can hit it in just the right place.
