Apologises I don't seem to be able to translate this on here but if you use Google translate you will see that it is still very hopeful the Baza will have a new train connection to the coast and thus Lorca and Granada. The sports centre is still going to be going on ahead as planned along with many other projects - a total of 5.5 million .

Post by bigcol Sun Feb 26, 2012 8:37 pm

yes but who foots the bill for all this ???

how much is Spain like others countries are borrowing money from countries that, again have to borrow it, to lend it to a country, that will never pay it back!!!
.I.imagine someone will come up with a figue, but was told its in the multi multi billions.

The fact is they getting this money from sources that cant afford to lend the money inthe first place.
meanwhile 2 months ago UK have had to bail out and give more money 2 billion pounds on top of the billions that weve already put in the pot. so a new sport centre gets built and trains are made to happen. and GB is bloody broke cutting services .wards closing down its a fact that if countries like the Uk never threw money after bad into Greece. then Spain would have followed. and then we all will be in the Shit. another fact China has america by the balls america keeps buying goods worth billions of dollars in Bonds!! but how long before china demands real cash

world is mad anyway whos got some money to lend me that i cant and wont be able to pay back?? and if you havent the dosh to lend me borrow it from someone else who cant afford it.saying that they could always borrow thd money from Demon Dave lol

You're right Col,
They haven't given out the figures for the debt crisis yet, but Spain is in a recession and I will be surprised if this goes ahead, sorry to rain on anybodies hopes. They have just cut the paro (dole) by a hundred euro's a month, and the cuts are getting deeper and deeper. They have the highest unemployment in Europe. So I think its a good idea the railway and sports center, but fear it is a pipe dream. They cannot keep borrowing money and not paying it back, and I fear the debt is not in the billions but in the trillions!! about the same as Italy. Crying or Very sad

yes your right Amelie

Spain like italy owe trillions, just looked it up.and every month it gos up and up.!!

Spain will have to start saving billions in cuts,if not the euro will be no more.the EU as we know it will be defunked
and curencys will be devalued causing hard ship and total breakdown

every one knows that this last bail out cant be afforded.but had to!! they had to just throw the money away at Greece if not Spain and italy would have collasped

its a mess!! they are wasting billions and billions on bail outs.having no choice. because the only other option is the fall of the EU and the single currency.

for a expat that would mean a massive cut in pensions.house prices converted back to old currencies, houses will be devalued by 80 percent!!

Its going to happen.it has to.but contries dont know what to do about it!
their trying to stop the evitable.

im not going to read the financial papers anymore

This all applies to the 5.5 m on the sports centre etc but as for the railway it was mentioned before Christmas they have a sponser for it. Obviously someone sees it as a good investment especially on the freight carrying side of things within the agricultural industry although it will be a passenger link also.

Can I just point out Spain has also been throwing in money to help others countries especially Portugal although I'm not happy about that as they have done very little to help themselves except cut backs . Spain is going the opposite way to Portugal and encouraging investers to help bring back local industry especially in the agricultral side of things. You only have to watch where the smart money is going nowadays with Major investers cashing in their gold reserves and buying agricultural land in South America. Obviously food production is the way forward and that is one thing Spain has the edge on when it comes to the rest of Europe. Well if the Germans don't accuse Spain of poisoning everybody Rolling Eyes Oh and also if the French stop burning the agricultural trrucks as soon as they go through France - note the railway line will be connected into Africa , that could be a very smart move. The EU allowing more-or-less free reign to Moroccan imports of fish, fruit and veg is going to adversely affect Southern Spain´s sales of these products - a shame as it´s one of Spain´s few growth sectors just now. But northern Europe needs Morroco to keep buying their meat and dairy products so they pushed it through - may mean lots of job losses in Andalusia.

Yes lots more job losses in Andalucia! By allowing the unbridled trade with Morocco, they are cutting their own throats! Its obvious that the goods from Morocco are going to be a fraction of the cost of EU goods and don't forget the cheap labor over there. I hope to god that they can save the euro, but with Greece's track record, I fear not. They have been milking the system since they got in and so have Spain, Portugal, Italy and Southern Ireland, but they have been allowed to do this, so who's to blame!!

I have to disagree on the " unbridled and free reign " exports of Moroccan fruit and veg there are very strict quotas and pricing regulations ensuring Morocco works with the EU and not against it, especially when it comes to Spain, basically Morocco and the Canary Isles provide when Spain and the rest of the EU can't . The EU is making money from Morocco ( when it comes to agriculture it is looked on as being part of the EU and paying into the system, even when exporting to non EU countries such as Russia and Canada ), the countries that are losing the trade are Egypt and Israel .This makes Spain very important when it comes to a transport hub and certainly where this is concerned Spain is not milking the system.

The Spanish press - well, ´Ideal´ which is the only one easily available in Castilléjar! - is of the opinion that the recent EU vote on Moroccan imports will change that - there are a number of food items that in the future will not be restricted by quota or price. And representatives from the horticultural unions in Spain seemed to feel it would adversely affect them. I hope, Cavern, that you are right and they are wrong - the economic news is gloomy enough just now!

If that is the case remember the argument is with the EU not Morocco, the new freight system will give Spain more negotiation power when it comes to the quotas plus demand will be higher for veg as it will get to the destinations cheaper and in better condition. At the moment it is being shipped to Russia from Morocco and there is a lot of wastage . Spain can not provide all that will be required but it is better to work with Morocco, than other countries where the EU has no pact . At least the EU are making money from it, a lot of people don't realise that. I am afraid to say it is the strong EU member countries that have once again got all the pull. Spain must try and keep one step ahead, not an easy task . It would have been nice if they could have kept the high priced winter tomato trade but that would never have happened. Although apparently there is a demand for special green Spanish tomatoes in the winter - can't stand em myself .

Personally I think it would have been better to develope Southern Portugal to work along side Spain for winter produce but that would have meant them actually doing some work . Spain work their little socks off for the EU and get very little reward or respect.

I am told in many parts of Spain especially down by Almeria there are plots of land marked out with British supermarket name on sticks just waiting for the crops and along with the property market tacking off. Then the money will start rolling into Spain.
Last week we had Dutch couple as prospective buyers and another agent tells us they are getting a lot of hits on the sight for our place and coming back two and three times.
Possibly wishful thinking.

Just an update on this one The Mayor of Baza is furious having had all polictical parties sign to say they will back it all the way, before the election. The party that did get in the PP have now pulled the plug on it, Despite having private financial backing for all the money. There is going to be a protest tomorrow 4th July at 1900 at the Archaeological Museum.
