Caring for strays...
After admitting to my husband that I had just fed the stray which had been keeping us all up for the last few nights, he asked, only half joking, "did you put a blanket out for it, some milk, some fish?" After googling why this cat was answering my mieows so pathetically (yes, both me and the cat being pathetic), I came across this. It made me laugh. I thought it might tickle some of you. It think it could just as easily apply to dogs...

Brilliant, link.
They're not silly and oh so cute. How things going, now has the stray a name now? Is hubby beginning to weaken?

Re: Caring for strays...
Yup, typically, we are all weakening.
Voz is his name because he's constantly talking. Hubby insists on calling him Boff. He's got a serious right hook (cat not hubby).
Voz thought that he would try a little affection today - the other cats and dogs seem to like it so I guess he thought he'd have some of that too. We managed to stroke him without getting our hands lashed. He even did some rolling on the floor and some ankle rubbing. Progress indeed!
Next step - health care! Not sure how yet . Chain-mail I think.

Re: Caring for strays...
When we arrived up here we brought 2 very old English cats with us. Going back to the UK for a visit a couple of English friends came over for a holiday and to look after the cats. When we got back we had 5 - they had adopted a mummy and her 2 kits for us. The following year she had another 4. We've never looked back!!! We have those we can catch steralised (boys and girls alike - 17 so far). Our 2 old ones are now long gone and we sometimes lose others to accidents - we lost a year old one yesterday, found run over outside our gate - very sad. The numbers go up and down so we number 15 at present. It would have been 13 but we were given 2 very small kittens recently from a Spanish person who found them on his property and didn't know what to do with them. They are now thriving. From what I have seen and heard it seems there are a lot of English looking after dogs and cats that were once strays. It is very difficult to turn away an animal that just wants to be loved (and fed)

Yvonne, the vets at the top of Baza charges 18e for castration I believe. I'm not sure how much for spaying.

We went in the other day and asked and I am sure she said 18e for a campo stray. I'm going in tomorrow to double check.

Re: Caring for strays...
OK, I stand corrected and need my ears washed out I think. It's 60e for a male cat. Vet Jabalcon down beyond the post office is 90e!!!!
Bad huh! Is there nowhere cheaper? What about the campana para sterilisation? Perhaps I'll learn myself.
