Guided Mountain Biking and Bike Hire - Orce

For all those that like mountain biking, Orce has a new local business called Rapamont run by a young local couple, Julian and Maria. For those that may worry, language could be a barrier, Julian , is also fluent in English.

They rent bikes and offers guided mountain biking for all levels of cyclists.

Orce El Bosque / The Forest
Distance: 18 km (round trip)
Difficulty: Medium
Duration: 3 hours approx
You take the road to the recreation area "El Bosque" from Orce, skirting the Sierra de la Umbria and between fields of cereal crops and almonds, continuing through the pines and oaks of the forest, on a gently rising path. Once you reach the centre, of El Bosque you will arrive at the Recreation Area, you can relax in the picnic area and walk in the shade of its lush vegetation.

The return ride to Orce, will further allow you further opportunity to enjoy the landscape, as you descend back into the village, where the tour will end

Orce Pre-historic Flint Mines
Distance: 28 km (round trip)
Difficulty: High
Duration: 4 ½ hours
This route starts at the recreation area "El Bosque" of Orce, there is a steep ride rising, 5 kilometres up to the pre-historic flint mines, with the most incredible views of the whole region. Take a look round the entrance to the flint mines, where early man once came to gather flint and transport it back, to ancient village of Orce. Take in and photograph, the unique and exceptional flora and fauna.

Archaeological Trip
Distance: 12 km (round trip)
Difficulty: Medium
A very scenic route, that connects the village of Orce and the hamlet of Fuente Nueva; On arrival to Fuente Nueva, take a look at Archaeological site where finds and excavations have been found many fossil remains of extinct animals and which witnessed the emergence of man, 1.3 million years ago.

Smile, these routes are actually along local tracks / trails and for those that don't mind a bumpy ride, (smile) in a car, pick up a tourist map at tourist info in Orce and most of these tracks are marked on there. The views from the flint mine are amazing. There's actually a circular route that takes you through the forest up to the flint mine and then onwards to an even higher viewing point and back down through the almond groves to Orce and of course tapas and beer in the Plaza bar.

Julian & Maria are also doing, (driven) excursions too, so for those want to go on a guided drive, to have a look at the flint mines and don't fancy the steep 5km ride up there I am sure they would be happy to accommodate.
