Castril Castle

Work is starting very soon to re-build the old castle in Castril, 2 million euros has been put aside to carry out the work.
Where is the old castle i hear you say, for those of you that have been lucky enough to walk to the top of the Pena in Castril would have seen the old ruins that are partially covered by wooden planks, well that is where it is going to be.
I will try and take photos as the work goes on.

Yes but it won't be the original will it? I am all for preservation but to rebuild an ancient building with none of the original materials is a bit of a waste of time and money!

Is Disney involved?

Carcasonne! Superb restoration. They had to use new materials. I think the trick is to make the new distinct from the old so that the old is preserved and can appreciated, yet the new can give you some ppreciation of what it would have looked like.

If they don't keep the old it will look fake.

I went to a medieval night in a reformed castle in Lloret de Mar, great night, great show, great food, but the castle had been made out of breeze blocks, nice reform job !!!!! The locals hated it.........Coach loads of visitors on a daily basis, hope that does not happen in Castril
