The next electric price hike is set for April and will be 10 percent tarif dependant, so this time it will only affect 7 million homes in Andalucia and mostly those supplied by Endesa.

The next rise is expected in Oct for 4.8 percent possibley more!!

So in total this year that will make a total rise of 24.6 for most homes.

Its been suggested in some of the Spanish press that switching to the TUR tarif would minimise the rises as this rate will be less hit.

The next round of bad news will be the water charges as its been reported today that the current consumption is unsustainable and the Government wants to hike the cost to improve infrastructure.

Yipeeeeeeeeeee

Oh yeah dont forget to drive slow to save fuel, most of the main road speed limit signs have now been changed.

Any good news ????

YES the electricity rises have been painful, so we have been looking at all sorts of ways of controlling electricity consumption. With two houses and lots of light bulbs we were slowly phasing in low watt bulbs but they're not cheap.

However the good news was, On my recent trip to England teco's had a special on low watt bulbs, 10p each but you were not allowed to buy more than 10 at a time. But hey, what's a few trips when threatened with a 24.6% increase

Boothjenger, what tariff are those effeced by the next increase on, fingers crossed it is not ours.

Plus what is the TUR Tarrif? Very Happy

The Spanish market had to adapt inorder to establishe the European Directive 2003/54/CE on the inner market of the electricity, Law 7/2007 of the electrical sector has modified to allow the total Liberalization of the sector. From the 1 of July of 2009, and in agreement with Real Decree 485/2009, two important changes in the Distribution and Commercialization of electricity have taken place: The electricity has stopped being provided by the Distributing companies and is now provided, exclusively, by the Marketing Companies. For this reason, you had to choose a Comercializadora company. If your still being provided by a Distribuidora company, your provision has happened automatically to the Tarif of Last Resource pertaining to that company. The Regulated Tariffs mean being able to choose, to contract with a Comercializadora company in Free trade at a price freely agreed or acogerte Tarifa de Último Recurso (TUR). In any case, these changes do not suppose any alteration in the normal provision of electricityt. It solely changes the ownership of the company with which you have the contract, and that will invoice your consumption from now on. Tarifa de Último Recurso (TUR) is the unique price that receives the Marketing ones of Last Resource to the consumers, is unique for all the territory of Span and established by Ministerial order. The consumers with right to take refuge in this tariff are, solely those connected consumers of electrical energy in low tension and whose contracted power is equal or inferior to 10 KW.
