Repsol gas bottles-castril
We need to set up a gas bottle contract for a new cooker and have been advised that for the first time it is best to go along to the Repsol office in Castril to sign the contract. Can anyone advise on exactly where in Castril this will be, is it easy to find coming from Benamaurel.
Many thanks

I don't know about Castril, but I set mine up nearly 6 years ago with the filling station in Castillejar & just go there for replacements whenever necessary. Didn't have to go into any office at all.

The repsol office in Castril is as follows, turn left into Castril and head down the hill, when you see the Zafra bar and new furniture store in front of you follow the road round to the right and straight after that turn right and follow the road to the right and 100 metres on the right is the office.

Re: Repsol gas bottles-castril
We did ours at the Repsol garage, just outside Galera. It took about 5 minutes, I think we had to show our NIE and pay the deposit. Easy peezy.
Re: Repsol gas bottles-castril
You can go too the carboot on sunday. Buy so much gas-bottles you want. There about 10 Euros .Then you go too a gas-station and change them too full one. no contract needed. Cost only money. I buy mine always at the gas station near Benamaurel on the road too Baza. The aluminium bottles are lighter.

Re: Repsol gas bottles-castril
We told the driver of the lorry (Repsol) we needed to set up a contract and he came to our house on his delivery day - had a look at the appliances we needed the bottles for, set up a contract there and then for us.
We later needed more gas bottles and we told him and he just sold us a couple of extra full bottles

Re: Repsol gas bottles-castril
Personally, I find it more convenient to take my empties to the local garage and bring back full bottles, as having gas bottles delivered means having to remember to be at home at delivery time. I think (tho' may be wrong) that Barbara & David aren't at their place all the time, so this may be the more convenient solution for them. Certainly, I can't understand the suggestion that they need to go all the way to Castril from Benamaurel to sign a contract.

Re: Repsol gas bottles-castril
Just keep an eye out for any Gas delivery truck in your area and flag it down ! then simpley ask for some Gas, the driver will come in and have a quick look at your appliance's, set up a contract (which should include a certificate of revision - conformity certificate valid for 5yrs) and sell you the Gas - or you can just pop into most garages and buy a full bottle without contract and exchange at will, the only difference with this option is that the Gas man hasn't looked at your appliances and given you a certificate so if the bottle explodes you won't have any recourse !! its all SIMPLES
Watch out for the Gas Appliance inspection scam currently going round - plenty of info on the forum about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Repsol gas bottles-castril
Don't forget the gas is cheaper from the repsol van than from the garage - In fact here in Galera it is a lot more. Mind you the price is up and down all the time. I can remember when it was 8 Euros. Now its 12.80 from the Van and 15.80 from the garage!!

Re: Repsol gas bottles-castril
just got back from a long weekend at the cave, now back in chilly UK. Made it to Castril, we bought the gas bottle, hose and regulator and the guy said that next time we are in Spain to give him a call and he will come to inspect to setup and give us a contract. The contract will cost 60Euros, more than our little table top cooker cost so it may be a while before we get around to giving him a call ;-)

I did the contract thing at Fermin´s bar in Los Olivos - didn´t cost anything - just paid for the gas bottles.
