Trooping of the colour today, do you watch it, are you interested in it, or is that all a British thing and you cant be bothered anymore?

Im no Royalist at all, and cant be bothered, which is shocking really being ex forces. But It dosn't feel wrong cause I know what the thoughts are for every one of those servicemen on parade. "The sooner this is over the better so we can get out of this stupid kit, hand the rifle into the armoury and get down the bar"

As somebody who has taken part in several Troops,I can say that not everybody dislikes being a part of a tradition which goes back an awful long time!!

I love to watch for the horses mainly, then troops, then the tradition, then the incredible organisation, then general people watching, then the weather... I just enjoy the spectacle!

I am with you on this one Dave.
What a waste of money too, the money spent on the trooping of the colour could be spent on more kit for the armed forces overseas, i.e more channels on sky and more reading material (if you know what i mean)

It is a matter of record that the troop brings more money into the country than it costs. As for the number of Sky channels,I have just left a unit that returned from Helmand in April, there is no shortage of T.V,on the odd occasion that there is time to watch, most of the FOB's are far to busy to be concerned about the goings on in Coronation Street.

Take a chill pill Ian, I was joking about the tv, i know there is no time to watch tv i've done my time and more. But trooping the colour has lost it's appeal now, it used to be something to sit down and watch with the family but now the youngsters are not interested which is why it has been moved to bbc2, i dont there would be that many soldiers on the parade that would rather be there than in a pub watching footie.
