Help each other

This is not a club.
VISTA is happy for people interested in computers to meat say Saturday morning one a week or a month bases just to talk about the use of computers, programs plus helping each other and make it a socialise morning, they intend having a router installed to make it even more attractive for us to go there. My thoughts are that it would be nice to pay them a nominal some like a Euro each for the use of the place and the services. Would you like to let me know if anyone is interested? So we can pull the thing together.

I think Mikey is correct Peter. Probably better to advertise it as free entry to attract them in, then waft some nice coffee ans cake smells around. Count me in as from January, I may even show people how to post threads on the forum!

As usual negative comments. Would it not be better to support vista than knock it, as like all the other British ventures it will close because of negative comments or lack of support. The one thing I find about the Moroccans and the South Americans is that far from home they support and look after their own. What is 1 euro? when you could learn some new skills, count me in.

Who's knocking it? It reads like both Mikey and I are supporting it. At least we had the decency to reply to Peter. Watch how many people read it and dont bother to comment.............

I agree I certainly didn't read it that anybody was knocking it at all, just discussing if the 1 euro entrance fee was a good idea as it would put people off going and I would think the more people Vista can get through the door and see the excellent array of goods on offer, the better and of course see how good the coffee and cakes are

Not sure if a computer club is my cup of tea ( no pun intended ) but do know that if Vista could offer free WIFI then they would have got a lot of business when I first moved here and it took me 3 months to get my Internet connection sorted. I nearly bought the Abadi with all the beers I had to buy, it was awful

I was really impressed with Vista the other day and really would like to support it more and will really try but at the moment it is all work, work, work for us during the light of day, we only really find the time to go shopping etc in the evening. Hopefully we are going to the " cards is right "evening though. I think it is great that they are are organising these .

My idea is not a computer club, if you run a club in Spain you have to have it register with a registration number a president a committee a register of members and an accountant. So my suggestion was to just have a morning where you knew you could go and get help with your computer and programs socially. OK I know from experience there will be the smart-aleck who will try to use it as a place to pick up people to make money out of coming to your home. “SO BE WERE” My idea was to bring a few people together to help each other as FRIENDS not to make money. The 1€ was just a suggestion to try and add to the support of VISTA as a social centre for the British

Whichever way you decide to go Peter, count me in from January. If you want any help let me know. There are so many things that everybody could benefit from, email, surfing, skype etc. Great idea Peter. I hope that you get lots of interest.

Quite some time ago I posted on the forum that if anyone on the forum needed help with their pc/internet/skype/Kindle I would be happy to help. Free of course. I didn't get many takers at that time. I repeat the offer now, seeing as a lot more people now have internet etc. Lot's of people have helped/do help me with stuff so I don't mind spending some time helping others. Winter is coming so I'll have a fair bit of time on my hands. I was a Certified Trainer specialising in "difficult" students. Especially the older student/technophobe. It gives great pleasure to see how much more enjoyment people can get from their pc/internet etc.. And No Jargon (unless you want it).

Hi Gobiker56, I for one do not know who you are or where you live. I think it is always easer to works eye ball to eye ball to learn and with my limited knowledge on computers I am very willing to share with others what I know; I thought VISTA would be a good meeting place and have their permission. I do not want money just the interest and to help others over their problems on the computer.
I now think it would be best for people to decide if it is worth giving money which would help support VISTA. The 1€ I suggested was to help pay towards HABLAND monthly rental at VISTA
There are things I know how to do on the computer such as changing pictures into a URL and adding it to the forum, bits and pieces like that I see people on the forum have problems with.
All are very welcome and your help Gobiker56 would be very very welcome.
Dave I am very sure we are all looking forward to the time you arrive and muck in helping us. So safe journey and come and join us cave dwellers.

I will try to be at VISTA on Saturday at 10.30 am to try to start the computer meetings plus try to stay until 1.30pm as you all will understand my wife has first call on my time

No I know it was a real shame , I kept him company for a while a very nice guy and has some very interesting stories to tell along with his lovely wife.

What a shame Peter, I have only got 1 response for my offer of free help. Either people are all computer literate or think you are going to start free and charge later. Or in many cases, people don't want to show how computer illiterate they are. Everyone has to start somewhere and there is no stigma to being computer illiterate. There is a massive amount of stuff you can do with your Computer. Try again next week Peter. Perhaps with a specific topic for each session, starting with internet browsing and getting free books, videos, films etc.perhaps.

what a shame , somebody is willing to help for free and had no takers, I was unable to come last time as I was ill. Can you tell me when you are meeting again, and do I have to bring my lap top with me?
