The time this happened was in the year of 1984. And1.2 million pounds was a lot of money in those days, I got a very badly paid contract with a company working to change kitchens into operating theatres and vice versa at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
I was willing to take on the work, I felt it would giving something extra back for the kind way the staff looked after our daughter when she was dying of Leukaemia in that hospital.
Things started to smell bad when I found out two of the owners of the company I was doing the work for were always off playing golf in Portugal and Scotland, then two of NHS management where made associate members of the company and one I know was given a two week holiday in a sea front flat in Alicante.

And to crown it all the new kitchens and operating theatres were closed before they were ever used.
To me this is just one of the ways our NHS money went over the past years.

Years of this happening well not leave much in the pot for us these days.

Sadly Peter I think the same sort of thing still goes on,it's just that the people involved are more well practiced at hiding what's going on.Oh! and,of course,the numbers are bigger.

Appalling, isn't it, that people can knowingly fiddle an institution like the NHS? And that's on top of inefficiency and lazy purchasing. Makes me want to weep.

Hi Peter.... I know, my friend. My son works in a factory that, going on memory, makes NHS bags for say £15.... sells them to a middleman, who ten sells them to the NHS for 10 times that amount. People don't want to know but the UK is one of the most corrupt on earth. Sadly your story doesn't at all surprise me. - Michael


No problem just make the public pay more they are a bottomless pit.
