Try and work this out!

I got this from a friend, can you work it out?

You saw a shirt for €97, you didn't have the money so you borrowed 50 from you mum and 50 from your dad (or maybe borrowed from friends!).
Which gives you 100 Euros.
You brought the shirt and got €3 change.
So you gave you dad €1 and gave your mum €1 and kept €1 for yourself.
So you now owe your mum €49 and owe your dad €49

49+49=98

€98 plus your €1 = €99

So where's the missing €1?

there was a similar puzzle on one of the professor leyton ds games

Maybe that's where he got the puzzle from mikey, I don't know. I did accredit the whole thing to a friend who'd passed it on to me.

And yes you're right, it is a shirt.........................but that's not the answer.

My dad used to drive me potty with a similar puzzle when I was young.....pity I can't remember the answer!! x

Its a trick question because,

If the shirt is 97 euro s, then you really only borrow 48.50 euro s from each person.

48.5
+48.5

equals 97.0

Then that would leave 3 euro s. 2 for each person and 1 for yourself.

Conceptual Maths !! Simples I think let me know if its right ????

When you get to the stage of 49+49 = 98 and you have 1 left you then spent 97. (98 minus the euro you saved!)

The error is in the final equation. It should be 49 + 49 MINUS 1 (not plus).
