It makes a big difference to people doesn't it. The predictions are positive for the end of the year (<>1.28) but we have a lot of obstacles to overcome on the way. Theres only two PIGS left (P&S) for the market to worry about and both of them are strongly denying they are like the other two (I&G). If the UK doesn't improve like it's expected to, we could be in trouble but if it does, and P&S need help, there is hope yet. Who knows!

It looks like Portugal got through OK (<7%) with help from the ECB, which could mean Spain will do the same. With GB IP and PPI out tomorrow (which are expected to be better) bad figures could see the wave of optimism reversed.

The PIGS (as they are collectively know) are Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain. I thought everyone knew that!! (lol)
P, I G & S are the individual countries mentioned above.
ECB, European Central Bank
PPI, Producer Price Index,
IP, Industrial Production
GB, Great Britian

Here's another, just been to Eroski and 5L of Olive Oil is €10 BOGOF (Buy One Get One Free). Should last a while as I don't use much of it but it seems unspanish not to at least try!

Sterling has in reality held it's own pretty much against the Euro which is good news considering how the dollar suffered after the good news for "P".

Perhaps it might stimulate the housing market this year, we are certainly getting more inquiries from serious buyers in the UK

I think there is some hope out there. Yesterday,I picked up from a house which had just sold after the sale falling through 6 months ago.Yesterday my lorry left for the first time in 6 months not completely full for the return to UK,so maybe that is slowing down. The lorry is full coming back to Spain and I have a good rate of enquiries from new people hoping to move to Spain in the next few months. So I think there is a definate air of optimism.
Hopefully it will give a boost to the local ecomomies.
