Great Place !!

Just back from a relatively new Bar in El Margen - Bar Martinez which is run by Victoria and John with what looked like ample help from their family. The Bar exudes a warm welcome, undertakes regular Fri/Sat entertainment which combined with the homely feel (great log fire burning) will I'm sure make this great place a real success - we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves so much so, that we think a Forum Members outing is well over due, and this would be the place to have it.

So how about it folks?? Shall we see if we can all get together over the Xmas season and have a nite out, re-introduce ourselves and put faces to Forum names?

If anyone is interested in a gathering I'd be willing to co-ordinate - and Bar Martinez would be the place to do it, they have a good Xmas lunch menu, great bar menu and off course Tapas, its easy to find and plenty of parking which combined with their in house entertainment would make a great venue!!

I'd already considered booking Xmas lunch there so it would be a good idea to combine the two.

Ok - sounds like the idea is being well received. I'll wait untill Tue to see how many more people respond, then I'll go and see John and Victoria at Bar Martinez to see what's on offer in terms of dates, entertainment, food etc - then I'll post the list of possible options/cost. Of course we shouldn't limit anything to just forum members if anyone knows of folks looking for a bit of a get together then I don't suppose there'd be any objections - the more the merrier !!

Whats the general feelings on :-

A. Sit down meal with drinks & a bit of entertainment for a fixed price

or

B. More informal tapas & drinks with entertainment paid individually

Haven't been over to Bar Martinez yet just gathering a concenious before I enquire about dates/availability etc

When I asked, the price for a 6 course sit down Xmas dinner was 40 eu.

Englishman - that price is for Christmas Day lunch, not the Christmas menu leading up to it. x

Ok folks here's what I've come up with so far:-

Date: Friday 3rd Dec arrive at Bar Martinez 7pm for 8pm kick off

Option 1. Set Menu 3 course with choice of starters/mains & dessert 10€ per head.

or

Option 2. Buffet with various delights 12€ per head

I suggest everyone pays individually for their drinks - this should avoid over complicating things and means each person can control their own consumption both liquid and money wise - lol

Entertainment by way of Music and Karaoke (with a couple of semi-pro singers starting things off) 10pm till 2am

Transport might also be able to be arranged utillizing Bar Martinez's contacts with a Coach Company - the 14 seater Minicoach can do a round robin for pickups and drop off's. The cost will be dependant on number of trips etc but as an example Galera to Bar Martinez is €40 for the coach so thats about 3€ per head - Final costings for this will depend on numbers and pickup points. So I need to know if this service will be required soonest inorder to give each person a definitive price.

Subject to everyones preferance for food I'd need a deposit of either €5 or 6€ and would like to gather this up before the weekend so I can confirm numbers and post Menu's etc.

If I've forgotten something please Vicky at Bar Martinez jump in and correct or clarify as needed.

That would be fine but as the girls want to go to Cullar tomorrow, I could take it straight to Bar Martinez. Would that be OK? It'll just be me and Ami. Oh yes - and we would like seats on the minibus if possible. x
