Re: Dog Passport.
first of all he/she will need to be microchipped and have a rabies jab, this can be done in one visit. microchip varies from 10.00-20.00 euros, depends if there is an offer on. Get them to complete the passport then in a months time you will need take the dog back to the vets for a blood test to check the antimbodies, this is usually 43.00 euros but you dont have to pay it until the results are in which takes ages here around 3 months however, provided results come back good your dog can travel 6 months from the date of the blood test and not the date of the results. When you take the dog back fro the results of the blood test then pay the 43.00 euros and they will sign off the passport. once all this is done you must make sure that your dog gets a rabies jab every year, not one day after the original rabies jab and provided you do this then thats all there is to do every year. Good lcuk

dog travel
also before you travel, you have go to vets 48 hrs before for front line and worm tablet, you can go to your local vets or have it done at the port we found it easier to go to vets local, they will sort the time and date for the passport

Re: Dog Passport.
it can be no less than 24 hours before travelling or longer than 48 hours so there is quite a big window to make sure the treatment is done

Sharpie,
There is a recently opened vets..."San Antonio" located at the old Pink Orchid
premises...Antonio used to be at the Jabalcon vets. He speaks
good English and is extremely helpful.. May be a good idea to liaise with him and get it straight from the horses mouth (no pun intended)....

Re: Dog Passport.
I wondered why our pups were required to have a second rabies jab. It all becomes clear now.
Vets Habalcon on Calle agua, or 'new Vet in old pink orchid place on Ctra. de Ronda. Both will advise you well regarding passport requirements. Antonio, the chap at the new place has some English, but not enough to have a telephone conversation, best to see him face to face in his surgery where he can refer to google translate as necessary! He opens up at 10 am each weekday. don't forget there is a public holiday on Monday next though.
We seem to be spending quite a lot of time there recently...
