So, more of a poll or village-off. What is your favourite Andelucian or Granadan town, village or hamlet, and why?

RULES: You need to give the name of the place, and 3 reasons why it is your favourite.

  • Name of town/village/hamlet
  • Reason 1?
  • Reason 2?
  • Reason 3?

Galera? Freila? Huescar? Baza? any of the other lovely cave-filled towns?

Orce
Lots of historic buildings (more "señorial" than humble Castilléjar, where I live)
Fuencaliente pool for year round swimming
Friendly weekly market

Castril
A mandatory place to take new guests for a day out
Great mini gorge river walk that ends up at a bar
Nice traditional hillside village with a few good bars and fiestas

On my next trip, I have a long list of villages and towns to visit and explore, so we can get a feel for our favourite locations. Looking from Guadix right up to Castril with lots of lovely places inbetween! Cant wait!
