Hi all. Just a quick question, cal, can it be sprayed on ?
Need to decorate in the cave with cal and thought about spraying it on.
So, can it be sprayed, has anyone sprayed with it and would one of those , I think they are called airless sprayers, work with it ?

TIA

Yes you can spray cal.You can buy cal sprayers from most ferrets, they look like an old fashioned stirrup pump.
It can be sprayed with an airless system but be aware that the hole in the nozzle has to be quite large, the cal tends to have bigger particles than most paints.

Thanks for that info Ian.

I've chickened out and got our builder / handyman to do the lounge...I may have a go and make a mess in the bedroom...!

Our sprayer is electric and it has a funnel which one uses to find out how thick the liquid is. It has to drain through and empty funnel in a set time. We just added more water until it was okay.

PS And this is an electric sprayer!

On the subject of Cal. Just bought two bags at Big Mat in Baza. Both bags are split open. One is just a bag of lumps. So, I am knee deep in a mixture of cal and water. Do I paint it on, use a watering can or a catapult. Please be gentle with any replies. Never used it before.

@ Barney.  Have you sieved it ?  Once mixed with water, you need to pass it through a sieve as it is lumpy.  We used a square of flyscreen we had spare.

@ Tala Orchard.  As a matter of interest, what is the nozzle size on your sprayer ?  I've been looking at a sprayer with a 0.8mm nozzle.  If I need bigger,  I'll keep looking !

Ours is not that big. Had you thought about using an agricultural backpack spray,

I did think about one of those garden fence sprayers, I'll have another look around.

Cheers.
