If looking for a financial adviser in the UK make sure they are registered with the FCA (Financial conduct authority)
This is the body who regulates the financial services industry in the UK post 2007 they raised the bar in terms of standards required for anyone giving 'advice' one of these was that they hold a professional qualification depending on the products that they recommend.
You can access the FCA register to check up on individuals or firms from their website.
