Mattress

We have just bought our first cave house, in Galera! Having done tons of research prior to purchase we think we have made a most excellent decision . And, thank you to all the friendly people we have met so far. A little piece of practical advice please... We need to replace a double mattress. Where in the area can we buy/order a new one? Delivery would be great however we are not adverse to strapping it on the car roof. Disposing of the old mattress... We have been told there is a public tip in Huescar... Where is it?

Hi! and congratulations!
The tip is on the road between Castillejar and Huescar - if you drive from Galera to Huescar and take the road to the left a bit after the Parador bar/restaurant, signposted to Castillejar I think, then at the T-junction turn right towards Huescar. The 'planta de transferencias' is along the road on the right: it's signposted. Galera town hall might do a collection scheme? Some town halls do a monthly collection of large items if you request it.
If there is a furniture shop or electro-domestico shop in Galera? They should be able to order up a double mattress and deliver it. There's one in Castillejar and bound to be several in Huescar.

Welcome to Galera, we moved here 3 months ago and just love it.

We brought fantastic mattresses from Ikea the nearest being Murcia about 1.50 hours and they come in a roll and go in a hatch back no problem, really comfy but you can also buy in the furniture store as you go into Huescar on the Left (don't know it's name) or in Baza.

In Benamaurel you can arrange for the refuse collection to take away unwanted bedding. Call the town hall (probably easier to visit in person) and tell them what you want dispose of and they'll tell you when and where to leave it - usually near your bins.

Either the dustcart will take it, or one of your neighbours will have it away.

Hi, congratulations on your purchase, I echo Him & Her, IKEA was fab,we bought loads of stuff from them and had it all delivered and built. The Matresses are brilliant, we got the sprung ones at a really decent price, and yes they do come rolled. good luck x

Welcome to Galera, Why not try Barachinas shop in the village, Posa is the same family. Our friends got wardrobes there and they even fitted them to the wall and made the bed in the room.

Thank you all for your help and advice! We have an early flight into Murcia soon so will visit Ikea. We will also try the local shops and we need to discover Barachinas in Galera! Looks like the proper disposal of the old mattress will be easy. Have a great Christmas and best wishes for 2016!
