And another Newbie Empty And another Newbie

Post by Clarky Sun Feb 16, 2014 7:59 pm

Just thought I would drop in and say hello. My wife and I are early retirees mid fifties from Weston Super Mare (Not currently under water!)
We have recently bought a reformed Cortijo in the Campo between Caniles and Baza. We have sold up in the Uk and we move over next week arriving on the 26th February with a bit of luck our possessions are due to arrive the 27th or 28th allowing for the weather at sea et etc and the fact that I`m sure the removal company will get lost at some point.
We have been planning this for two years and cannot believe it is finally here. We are in the throws of all the last minute chaos that you will all remember but looking forward to the challenge.
I came across this forum by chance only a week or so ago having spent quite some time browsing the others available, and it was like a breath of fresh air to find there was such a forum much more suited to the area we are going to settle in. We were afraid there were hardly any expats in the area but I can see that is not the case and I have learnt a great deal from this forum already.
I hope you will forgive me if I ask for info over the coming weeks or months but promise to post anything interesting in reply I might come across.
Anyway enough of me for now must get back to packing so I`m being told.
Regards
Clarky

Thank you so much..Can`t wait...I`ve had our first encounter with Spanish form filling when we got our NIE`s in Baza a month ago and managed to get them in three hours after a few low ballers the office girl threw in but our Solicitor was impressed we got them on the same day!
Anyway things will be a lot saner when we actually arrive and we can start to go with the flow..Already have my eye on going to the Woodrot festival in May perhaps even camping there?
Really looking forward to living in the area and meeting new friends.
Thanks again

Good luck with your move etc. Hope you haven't been too badly affected by the horrendous weather along the South West coast etc!!?

Thank you. . Luckily we live on an elevated Hill overlooking weston Bay so no problems here! ! However not far away down the M5 as you know it's been really awful. It's been coming for a few years for lots of reasons without getting political but has caused a lot of anguish I'm afraid. The concensus seems to be people feel overlooked and ignored down here they have been worried about the lack of dredging of the waterways for some time and now it's come to pass great shame.

My wife and I are from Dorset (poole and Bmth) and can't believe how bad it's been. Having been out here now for the last 6 years and have to say we don't miss the U.K weather!

Welcome, jammy gits! We are in our mid fifties as well, but it looks like it will be 2015 to come over permanently for us! We have a place in Venta del Peral, just outside Baza. This is a great area with great people, both Spanish and UK.Catch up whenever, good luck with the move.
