OMG, The Moon's gone dim! Empty OMG, The Moon's gone dim!

There's a penumbral eclipse happening tonight (Fri, Oct 18) into Saturday morning. The Full Moon will pass through the Earth's shadow and appear dimmer than usual. Sometimes these events cause the Moon's colour to change - red moon's are not uncommon (red, for the same reason that dawn / dusk is red).
The effect reaches its peak around midnight local time.

There's nothing particularly rare or significant about penumbral eclipses - you don't see a "bite" taken out of the disk and they happen once or twice a year.

Also, on Oct 20 at 22 min past 8 (p.m.) there's another bright Iridium flare about half-way up in the southern sky.

Oh, the excitement! Very Happy

Wonderful, it's 100% cloud in the UK. Shocked

But keep the astro stuff coming, hoping to have a 'GoTo' scope with me on my next trip down.
