Dog in Galera Empty Dog in Galera

Post by Gobiker56 Mon Aug 29, 2011 12:59 pm

I took a dog home yesterday, tan and white with pointy ears like an Egyptian dog. I fed n watered him and cleaned his many wounds. He was covered in fleas and thanks to Carole I frontlined him. He slept most of yesterday and through the night ( I stayed up to watch him). I put a goat collar (Came with my goat bell) on him. So he was much better this morning. However he has now run off somwhere. If you see him can you let me know and I'll come and get him.

Thanks

Hi go biker, that dog has been roaming loose for about 2 weeks now but never been able to get near it, it did have a bad leg last week but still managed to outrun me with my 2 dogs.

It was staying on top of the hill near to the water tower with a pack of 5 others but they have gone too. I have been up there 3 times today and no sign of it, if I see it I will give you a bell.

If your short of s dog to feed & medicate I'll lend you mine for a few days.

I am away all day today - looked for him again last night no sign and that is unusual. hey ho he's got a head start with the frontline treatment. Hope someone finds him. I can't home him forever if he's found but will keep him until I find a home. If I don't find him I'll foster another dog.

Hi Gobiker ! He's not ungrateful just not used to human kindness !! he sounds a bit like a Podenco maybe,!! we fostered one such doggy down Almeria she used to run off do her own thing and then come back to us. we took her to podenco rescue in Los Gallardos Almeria she is now homed in England on a farm she was so beautiful but we at that time we were so sad we could not keep her. Hope you find him soon Very Happy

Post by Gobiker56 Wed Aug 31, 2011 7:21 am

Got home last night and he was waiting on the patio - slept in the house all night with no @mishaps@ so he is house trained. I am only fostering him so if you need a good looking well behaved (uo to now) dog look no further.

Dog in Galera Empty Off again

Post by Gobiker56 Wed Aug 31, 2011 1:01 pm

He's gone wandering again, he'll be back. Carole gave him a nice new collar and lead - which he slipped before I got him home. It's waiting for him when he comes back.....

It looks like he's gone for good no-one has seen him and I haven't seen many strays over the last few days perhaps they have been collected/whatever. So I now have room to Foster a dog I will keep my eye out for a needy dog.

Dog in Galera Empty Re: Dog in Galera

Post by janga Sat Sep 03, 2011 3:15 pm

I have the same sort of thing here. medium size bitch turned up at ours about 2 months ago, started feeding her (as you do) took ages to gain her confidence. Eventually managed to front line and worm her.
she comes and goes as she pleases, very scared of anyone else, she gets fed every day, yet still she wanders off at night, we wake to find the odd chicken or goat outside the house !
Even though we are happy to have her here, she still has that survival instinct, to get her own food. We have just paid to have her spayed, as we dont want her having any pups. Also cant get her to have a collar or lead on, any sudden movements from us and she is off again.

If you saw him in Totnes that explains! Skipping art classes at 'happy valley', if it is still running?

I have enjoyed reading this on going tale of the 'adventures' of a Dog in Galera. Has he got a name yet and if not are you open to suggestions? Mine would be Lucan.

Lots of other possiblities of course............
