Looking to move to the Sun
Hello one and all,
I am looking to find a Cave to hide in for a few years while I slow things down a little.
I do know the area reasonably well but will no doubt ask for a bit more local knowledge once I decide on an area that suits.
There will of course be other questions that come up along the way as well.
That's it for my little introduction I hope to meet some of you at some point and look forward to making new friends.

Re: Looking to move to the Sun
It looks like the search is over, and it did not take that long.
Have found what appears to tick all the boxes that were asked of it in Fontanar.
Not sure how long the purchase is going to take, but it looks like completion should be towards the end of next month.
It would be good to hear from anybody who is in that area as it's new to me.

Re: Looking to move to the Sun
Took me ages to work out where Fontanar is: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Some info at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] made me realise I had done 'white water' rafting near there on the Guadiana Minor river (where it meets the A-315). Water is released for irrigation at various times of the year which is when the rafting takes place.
We are about 12km as the crow flies (lot more by road) to the east near Fuente Vera on the eastern edge of the Castril river valley.

Re: Looking to move to the Sun
Tim,
Nice to hear from you, yeah, maybe I should have helped people out as to the location, its near to Pozo Alcon.
Interesting you should mention the White Water Rafting as when I was there last week there were signs around for the Aqua Festival later this month, I guess that is when they release water from the reservoir, makes sense n the summer months.
Its going to take me a while to work out the right times to visit with the various Fiestas, Events and Activities that take place in the area.
Looking forward to our visits.

Re: Looking to move to the Sun
Yes we are very happy, still lots to sort out indeed we have only just finished today after running around to get things resolved.
As for meeting up sometime, no problem at all we are not full time as yet, so will not be back until Christmas.
You are right about the 2 bars but so far we have only ever seen one of them open.
Where in the village is your property?

I do not know 'Loma De La Mesa'
if I have your property right which has the pool and large roof terrace we are almost at the opposite end of the same road, which is quite a long road.

Re: Looking to move to the Sun
It's a small world. You have my property quite right and yes the road is long. About a mile long, we did a measuring mission when we were there a couple of weeks ago to see if the bar was crawling distance....ahem... I mean we wanted to make sure we had a local shop that was walking distance in case the car broke down. Yours is close to the centre of Fontanar then and as you say, we are at opposite ends. Incredible that we found each other on this forum first.

Re: Looking to move to the Sun
I van confirm it is about a mile we just got back from a walk along it took about 40 mins to go both ways.
We may have upset a local dog just above, hopefully he will have calmed down a bit before you arrive.
Yes it is indeed a small world at times.

That big softie will be my first canine friend. Or at least he will be after I've fed him some scooby snacks.
If you need any help with Spanish, I will be happy to assist as I'm fluent.

Thanks for the message, but if you take the trouble to read past the first post you will see that we have found a Cave and indeed already moved in.

Cave monkey! I broke the bed! I was unscrewing the headboard and the whole base dropped onto the floor and cracked the footboard. It's now a pile of scrap wood in the recycling centre in Braintree. I'm sorry, I know you needed a king size

Re: Looking to move to the Sun
Natasha,
I wondered where that was going at first.
Don't worry about it, these things happen.
We still have a few other things to source too so it can just go back onto the list.
Hope everything else is going to plan.

Re: Looking to move to the Sun
So far so good. The stress has been awful and is still ongoing. But I know I only have 10 days left before I can finally relax so I can see a light at the end of this tunnel. I don't drink but I can see myself downing a few rums and cokes when this is all over.
You will return to Fontanar soon won't you?

Re: Looking to move to the Sun
I can understand the stress, but it will be worth it.
We are back out on Boxing day, can't come soon enough for me.
Only been back it the UK a few weeks but already miss the place, to be fair I did as soon as I was on the plane.
