Smart electric meter Empty Smart electric meter

If you are like me you will probablyhave a smart meter installed. I couldn't work out why the red led was flashing. So i looked on the internet. Those flashes are telling you how much electricity you are using. Most are 1000 flashes per KWh. So If you go out and count the flashes for a miniute and multiply by 60 you get an idea of how much you are using.. Mine was 20 a minute with everything on, tv computers lights and immerson heater, plus other sundry stuff. so that works out at about 12 cents an hour for me as I get Bono Social, which saves me about 21%ish. That was at 5am this morning. I will check in the day to see if it costs more during the day, which alledgedly it is. The immersion heater doesn't run all the time obviously, so some hours will be cheaper than otheres. It is handy, because if you are getting high bills you can find out by switching stuff off what is costing you the money. These figures are only reasonably accurate as ii couldn't be bothered to spend more than a minute counting the flashes. Simialarly the higher KWH service you contract for the more the hourly KWH figure iks. But you can get the real figures off your bill. It does seeem that heating water and doing the washing in the night is cheaper, but I haven't enough data at te moment to be sure. I am sure there are some proper electricians out there with more detail and info, or corrections if I am wrong. If you are a bona fide electrician could you send me a pm as I would like to pick your brains. Muchas Gracias.

We had the letter a couple of days after it was changed. It must have taken them seconds to do it, we noticed the power went off very breifly, so having heard that they were doing this, I went and looked and found it had been changed
