January weather

Hello, advice please on what we should pack for a quick 6 day visit in mid January, we haven't been at this time of year before, is it normally really cold/wet/snowy etc we were thinking jeans boots jumpers and coats but not sure. It's been very warm in the uk, just put the Christmas decorations up and the weather here is about to get a whole lot cooler so thought I would check on what's the norm is our area (Galera)

Sounds about right - especially for the cold nights! However, it's often sunny in winter during the day and once it warms up around midday you might want to roll your sleeves up - especially if you are working outside. The layered look should work!

Sounds about right. Night time temperatures down to -5°C occur most years during January - sometimes down to -12°. Sometimes for prolonged periods. For example, in 2011-2012 it was below zero at night very frequently from early December through to the end of March. Though during the day it sometimes goes up to 20°+. In 2010 we had 27° one day in February.

And don't forget, if there is heavy snow - some places get cut off until it gets cleared.
