meetings and get-togethers
As a ' newbie ' and not even living in the area.....but completing on a cave house 19/11
and going to the Altiplano event later.....
it did strike me to ask as everyone on here seems very helpful and friendly ( creep, creep )
Whether you ever have ' Cave Dwellers ' meet-ups for whatever reasons
social and no keys thown on the coffee table type
Searched.....couldnt find any such thing
hence this posting.....I am guessing you must know each other on a personal level
but not looking to invade or crash anything
Let me know ? would be nice to meet a few peeps in time !

There is a monthly quiz night at Emilio's Restaurant in Los Carriones. I am sure someone will be postin the date of next one on here soon. That is always good for a natter.

Guess I better find Los Carriones, but sounds good...it's the harmless gossip and friendly banter I am looking for .

Go to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and stick 'los carriones' in the search box.
Comes up with a pin for the restaurant.

Probably double. Though the distance isn't as much of a pain as the time.amm1007 wrote:I would have done that, but have now ....gosh, is that in the middle of nowhere ?

But that's the problem with living in the boonies: everything involves travel. And that puts a limit on the booze. And between them, makes socialising seem much less attractive. Which in turn means fewer people turn up ... and so the downwards spiral goes on.
Re: meetings and get-togethers

Re: meetings and get-togethers
Actually, I'm fine. Happy, happy, happy (now that [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] has turned up ) But there's no getting away from the geography: that when you have to spend half an hour to drive 10's of km, whether you want a drink or not, to a "bash" - and then take the same amount of time to get back home, it's a bit of a dampener.Mandi wrote:wow pete l you do sound happy, you dont have to drink to have fun, its the people you meet thats important, go on have a natter, enjoy.

[/quote]So 40 kms , no big deal, only 30 mins the way I drive .......well, sometimes !
and booze....there's always Cerveza sin, isnt there......tastes like the real thing almost ?
Or Sasparilla of course . I won't drink and drive, thats one cert ...unless A to B can be done off-road.
Well, you sound a happy bunny .....cos you could always get soused and sleep in your car I guess , or a local Hostal ?
20 euros for a room is better than losing your flipping licence, hey ?
Ahh well, better get back to my triple G & T then

I wish,no other side of Benamaural from us.We did have a English run café in Baza but it closed a couple of years ago.Which was a shame they did great food and a cuppa.
Emilios is probably 35 mins away from Zujar depending how fast you drive:

It is so difficult in the time we have been here not one Expat business has survived. There is a market for a little bit of what you like! Sally tries hard at Cueva Pedro with Sunday lunches, but still hard work. Good luck to all who try.

Re: meetings and get-togethers
I had a great lunch there yesterday! (Courtesy of the pensionistas group - there's some advantages to having an older partner!) Jamon, cheese, calamares, salad, then seafood soup, lamb chops and potatoes, and for dessert sorbet, flan and fresh fruit then coffee with brandy, plus unlimited white and red wine and beer (I had a bit of each!). I 've had their English breakfasts a couple of times -once was good, second time a bit mixed - egg griddled not fried, toast griddled not toasted, cold plates - but I'd know another time to ask. Having said that, I much prefer Spanish food!

Sounds like you might not have eaten since ?
I better find myself an older woman then ..haha.....
but not quite being that age, and tend not to join OAP groups, now sounds like I might be missing out ?
But seriously, I have such a slow metabolism ....I seriously could not even eat that much....1 plate is enough for me . But the Spanish side of stuff sounds great ! not really a Brit abroad seeking egg and chips stuff, but nice to know for the occasional Brekkie or Fish and chips. so now I know where it is, and the Spanish is good, its a place to note
Many thanks, Andy
