Escritura Availablity

Post by La Mancha on Wed Jun 05, 2013 10:41 am

I was reminded on a recent visit that the Guardia can ask to see you Escritura at any time. I keep the master in the UK and a photocopy in Spain but am now wondering if I should be keeping the original in Spain. Does anyone know what the legal requirements are and are there any other documents we should keep the original or a copy of in Spain.

If you do ever bring your master copies (back) to Spain I believe you can get notarised copies, complete with stamps and serial numbered pages for a few euros.
Though with stuff being on the internet these days, I reckon the need for cops to scrutinise paper copies of documents is on the wane.
