MISSING DOG Empty MISSING DOG

Post by Twisted Fire Starter Wed Feb 13, 2013 9:55 am

Dante was adopted by a new family from Fines Almeria on Friday 8th Feb, he went missing on Saturday 9th, unfortunately we weren't told until Sunday evening otherwise we would have gone straight down there to help call for him, he being more likely to respond to the people who've had him for over 365 days than those of less than 1 day.

He is a 1 year old male Alsation cross, but has no Alsation features really. He's a solid golden tan colour with white toes, he's also micro-chipped and has a bronze coloured webbing collar. He stands at about 75-80cm to his back and is a very handsome and athletic chap. He is NOT used to cars or roads as he's lived in the campo all his life. His new owner has informed his local vet and the police, we have also informed the vet where he was chipped and they have notified the RAIA. Hopefully he will be found by someone who will trace his owner via the microchip. If you have any friends from Fines and surrounding areas please share this photo on your FB pages.

There are 2 very useful FB pages to post his details on

Lost & found pets, Spain and ANIMALES PERDIDOS Y ENCONTRADOS ESPAÑA. Word gets around like wildfire on these .

Although they have reported it to the police , they need to check the Patrulla Seprona has been informed , animal welfare officer although he works for the police he is not automatically informed or at least the one in Baza isn't . Also the dog catcher of the area .

Although he is a cross breed he is still worth money if he gets in the wrong hands, which many unfortuantely do so always worth checking out http://www.milanuncios.com/perros-en-almeria/fines.htm

Thank you for your kind words. There's some good friends out there who really are doing a great job in getting his image circulated.

We even drove down to Fines to scour the streets for him, but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack, 10 minutes of running and he could be anywhere. One Spanish guy I stopped whilst he was walking his dog even took a photo of the picture we had of Dante and uploaded it to FB there and then, so his picture will be local too.

Hopefully Dante will be found soon.

Well after another journey down to Fines and a day of searching, calling and whistling, Dante came to us. He was hungry, thirsty, tired, scared and a few minor cuts, but otherwise in good health and VERY happy to see us.

The adoptive family have, at our request, agreed to let us take him back permanently. We'll deal with all the paperwork and he'll officially be part of our "pack".

Thank you to all who've offered help, advice and support, it's been emotional.

It's true what they say then, it's the dog that chooses the owner, not the other way around. He's had some food and has been out for the count for hours now. Bath time for him tomorrow that's for sure, 5 days living rough and he's a bit whiffy!

I am so pleased you have been reunited with Dante! Our dog went missing last week on a walk in some dense woods near to our village ( in the YUK) and after frantic hours of searching the guy who found her put an appeal for her on saying she was in our local dog rescue centre. The relief of getting our little dog back was indescribable!!

Dante has settled back in and is doing great, we have reimbursed the other family and have now transferred all his official paperwork to us.

The family are looking for a 'large-breed' puppy if anyone knows of one please let me know and we may be able to home it.

And before the usual suspects go on their normal ill informed, back stabbing campaign, El Cap DO NOT currently have ANY dogs that meet the criteria of THE FAMILY, we've all checked.

Hopefully we've managed to connect a woman in Baza, who took in a stray pup, with this family. With luck they'll be a perfect match.
