Banks
We think there maybe a new scam for the banks we brought money into our bank in Spain and have only been able to invest a small amount at a very small interest the rest sits in a current account only making money for the bank, every time they say they have computer problems now it has been for some three weeks.
Tonight we hear in England they are having similar problems in England

I would never fetch any large amounts of money into the Banks of Spain. Leave it in Blighty, you can still draw from a machine and you know your money is safe.

Hey There Ponderosa, I can still get at mine, lol, not with Nat West fortunately. We know they had some problems over the weekend, but you know its only a technical glitch. I don't trust any banks in any country, but at least in the Uk you can sort things out if you have any problems.

We made the decision to change our bank to Deutsche bank. Its been a very smooth transition. Glad we did it as they have offered us free banking, free debit card, english statements, sms texs when money is paid in all the staff speak fluent english, good interest rates on deposit account and 1.7 per cent on a normal account. Not bad.

Re: Banks
sounds good, how do you make the change and do you have the same protection/guarantees that you would have with an english bank?

Re: Banks
We went to Granada the branch is opposite victoria hotel just a couple of shops from burger king.
All was done by Miriam fluent english and we have spoken a few times on the phone, she usually answers. 958 52 30 32.
We gave her our bank details and she swaps over all the standing orders. You can take out cash with the debit card from any servired cash point for free and they are linked with all the post offices in Spain so you can use them too to deposit or take out money. She can answer any questions you have, just say you are a friend of raymonds, my husband, she recognises his voice now when he rings and says good morning Raymond ! hope this helps.

Re: Banks
thanks very much, that sounds a whole lot better than the local caja rural which makes up new charges as it goes along!
