Donnellies Empty Donnellies

Post by Ponderosa Sun Oct 30, 2011 9:34 am

A couple of days ago we were told Donnelley has closed which was run by two very nice ladies. We are sorry to hear that. Sad

Always sad to hear, but its a trend throughout Europe at the moment. If you wanted a shop in the centre of Paignton or Torquay, you'd be spoilt for choice. My brother in law has a chippy in centre of Paignton, and he is about the only shop left open in the street, but he's finding very, very tough. The sad truth is, that in the Uk these small shops will probably never open again due to the large supermarkets who are also buying up the cheap / empty retail premisses to open their new town centre 'metro' type supermarkets.

Why did they close? Lack of trade, lack of business accumen, lack of interest or stabbed in the back?

The old fusions place would be good for the donnellies ladies to go into if they wanted to carry on with the food

Now there's a thought Ross, if that had been me I would have offered to buy all Donelleys bacon and sausage stock at a knock down price then Vista in the words of the great David Dickenson could offer the '' Real Deal'' in English brekkies from what I have heard they used to serve. Spicey purveyor of fine Branston and HP baked beans to compliment the sausage and bacon, lolol.

Ok guys firstly what business is it why they closed thats the girls business

Yes Vista does sell English Bacon and Sausages but we have no intentions of doing the Cooking.

We did not know they were closing or we would have made an offer to buy there frozen foods

We agree it would be good for the girls to take over the old ThisNThat but it would cost at least 20,000 euros as we enquired everything has to be stainless steel and very good extraction dar dar dar

Yes there food was good always said they needed a bigger place.

Maybe a bar with a kitchen already in that that way it would save them money.
